Alizah Shahar, MS, CCC-SLP/PMT, and her outstanding staff in Houston, Texas, welcome new and returning patients to their offices in Memorial City and Hedwig Village.

Ms. Shahar graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a Master's of Science in Speech Pathology. She is currently obtaining Doctor of Clinical Research in Speech Pathology at Northwestern University. She also received orofacial myofunctional therapy certification and craniosacral therapy training, allowing her to deliver safe and effective orofacial myofunctional treatment to children, teens, and adults.

Ms. Shahar founded TASL in response to her own experience with TMJ dysfunction and tongue thrust, as well as her 20 years of knowledge in the profession.

The pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere at TASL Speech Therapy Consultants welcomes patients. The team works hard to establish an environment where their patients can regain their orofacial health and live a happy, healthy life.
The underlying source of difficulties affecting the airway, swallowing, voice, jaw, and speech muscles is treated by orofacial myofunctional therapy. Procedures like respiratory muscular training, upper airway training, cranial-sacral techniques, oral motor exercises, and tongue posture training are used in their therapies to improve muscle function.
People who suffer from difficulty swallowing and upper airway sleep-disordered breathing, such as sleep apnea, restore muscular function, which helps to alleviate their symptoms. During the recovery from jaw surgery and tongue-tie release surgery, orofacial myofunctional therapy promotes faster healing and restores movement.

Patients with temporomandibular (TMJ) problems and those in need of denture implants are frequently seen by the team. By recovering normal tongue mobility, patients with tongue thrust and an open bite can safeguard their dental health and improve their speech.
