What to Expect?

From the moment you walk through the door, we hope you feel welcome, relaxed, and informed. 

We will provide you with the cutting edge and latest techniques in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Your First Visit

Firstly we will sit with you and discuss your current and past health to assess if Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is for you. If we decide it is then we will conduct a thorough Orofacial Myofunctional examination as well as Breathing, Swallowing and Speech examinations to determine the cause of your problems. We will also take dental and facial images.  Video recordings are also obtained for swallowing examination.  Upon completion of the evaluation, we will go through the findings and review any questions you may have.  This information will be given in an easy way for you to understand.  You will also be given information to take home about your unique situation.   

 

We will let you know what we can do to help, how long it will take and how much it will cost.

 

Care will usually begin one week following the initial visit if we believe we can help

 

A copy of the evaluaiton report with explained information will be emailed to you and sent to your doctor or doctors within 48 hours of the evaluation.

Treatment Program

Allow 45 minutes for your treatment session within program.  Treatment program is between 12-16 sessions in length.  We assess your condition at each session, review your growth and progress, then we take you through any rehab exercises or lifestyle changes we may suggest you incorporate to enhance your results. Throughout your care, we re-run the examinations to monitor your progress. For these re-examinations, we do allow a few extra minutes to perform them. You will receive the results in the visit following the re-examination. We take you through any rehab exercises or lifestyle changes we may suggest you start incorporating to enhance your results. 

 

Monitoring of your home activites are done via an App and are designed specifically to you.  Our  monitoring app helps us assess and adjust your treatment according to your individual progress. 

 

All treatment materials and supplies are included in your treatment kit.

General Practice Information
New Patient Information

We encourage our new clients to complete the new patient information that is sent through our online portal.  This information is important to receive at least 24 hours before your appointment so that our therapist has the opportunity to review and prepare for your case.

Rescheduling

We understand that sometimes things come up, we do appreciate 24 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend an appointment. We encourage you to call us on 650-382-2190. Our lovely virutual receptionist can reschedule that appointment to a more suitable time.

 

We also recommend if you are on a schedule recommended by our therapist, you reschedule as close to your original appointment so your care is not compromised.

Should I attend when I am sick?

We ask that you stay home and reschedule your appointment if you are sick.  For exisiting patient continue your home exercises until your rescheduled visit.

We are following the COVID-19 guidelines as follows: 

 

  • Spacing out appointments to reduce the number of clients within the waiting area.

  • Minimised number of clients in the practice at any time.

  • Spacing of chairs according to social distancing standards in the waiting area.

  • No handling of items (straight to treatment room).

  • Strict cleaning and sanitising of adjusting beds after every client.

  • Text options for clients wanting to wait in the car until room available.

  • Strict cleaning and sanitising of tools after each use.

  • Regular cleaning and sanitising of common surfaces throughout each shift

  • Hand sanitiser available for clients to use upon entry and exit.

Payment Options
 

We are a private pay practice.  We are a program and not a fee-for-service practice.  We offer various financing options for our clients.
